I started working in a dog kennel at the age of fifteen. I learned quickly that I loved working with the dogs. At the kennel, the groomer took me under her wing and showed me a few basics for prepping dogs for bathing and grooming. From there I moved to on a self and full service grooming shop.  I worked hard to learn the daily operations. While continuing to hone my bathing and grooming skills. Learning time management and customer service was a large part of the learning experience at this shop.

When my husband and I started our family, I concentrated on making the most of the time I could work between being a wife and mother by learning the finer art of finish grooming. I soon became known as the "terrier groomer" at the shop I worked at in Cohasset.

At this shop, I met my friend Lynn who knows an amazing amount of information on all aspects of dogs, as well as their behavior.  I too have been studying dog behavior realizing that how we act has a direct effect on controlling how the grooming goes. I was turned onto Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer) by Lynn. I have a dog at home Norman that has been a challenge for me as he is hyper and has obsessive behaviors needing to be addressed. By studying Cesar and using his technique’s at home , I realized how much they helped my dog, and so I started using them at work.  The techniques improved the grooming experience in such a positive way.  I took this calm assertive energy one step further to learn the art of Reiki.  All this training has helped the dogs I groom to trust me and remain calm with me. Both Lynn and I moved on to another shop finding that most people in this business are not as open to trying things that will help them and the dogs to enjoy the grooming experience. Since I felt strongly about my approach to grooming, I decided to open my own shop to offer the kind of services and care I believe are essential to a positive grooming experience.  My focus is to establish trust with my customers and their pets.  I have over 18 years in the business and I am very excited about what I do.  I look forward to seeing you and your pet in my shop.

I attended a Ttouch clinic (hosted by Doggone U at Bancroft School of Massage Therapy 333 Shrewsbury St. Worcester, MA  01604) to understand the basics of Ttouch.  It takes years to become certified, but introduction to this technique has been wonderful to apply in my everyday interactions with my pets as well as my clients' pets. The reward for me is having them trust me so they can relax more while being groomed.

Ttouch

It is a system of gentle circular TTouches, lifts and slides that works at the cellular level to activate the body’s potential.

Linda Tellington-Jones, PhD (Hon) created the TTouch in 1983 for the training and care of horses and other animals. While learning TTouch for their animals, horse and pet owners practiced these techniques on each other to better understand what their animals were experiencing. Effectiveness of the TTouch for people became apparent. Over the years, people of all ages realized a newfound sense of well-being and renewal using TTouch. They also got relief from everyday physical and emotional issues such as headaches, backache, neck pain, depression, and sensitivity to touch.

TTouch is gaining acceptance in the human healthcare system. Nurses, massage therapists, physical therapists, physicians and occupational therapists are successfully integrating these techniques into their practices. For example, nurses use TTouch for post-fracture swelling, labor pain, wound care, and the management of edema, pain and anxiety. Massage Therapists and Physical Therapists find TTouch effective in cases of chronic pain and Fibromyalgia. In addition to the clinical applications, many healthcare professionals experience much needed relaxation and stress-relief for themselves.

Outside the clinical setting, teachers are using these techniques in the classroom to address behavioral issues and to facilitate problem-solving and positive growth and development in their students.

In your personal life, TTouch can be a means to enhance relationships beyond the constraints of language. Parents are finding new channels to connect with their children. Spouses are deepening their relationships and discovering new ways to nurture one another in a non-sexual context. Friends come to new levels of understanding and appreciation. TTouch is a powerful tool to enrich all your interpersonal relationships.

TTouch-for-You is easy to learn, requires no special equipment and it works! Over the past 20 years, hundreds of cases show TTouch to be a simple and effective means to relieve a vast range of common and uncommon health issues -- from a simple headache to a life threatening emergency. We have also gathered a rich legacy of anecdotal evidence to support the effectiveness of TTouch to enhance personal wellness and quality of life.
